Rockies drop four round lead ahead of Marlins win

Ezequiel Tovar hit a bases-laden single in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Colorado Rockies rebounded after losing a four-round lead to beat the Miami Marlins 7–6 in Denver on Thursday.

Tovar finished with two hits, Elias Diaz a homer, Randal Grichuk had three hits and two runs, and Ryan McMahon also had two hits in the Rockies.
Colorado center fielder Brenton Doyle left in the ninth inning with an apparent leg injury.
Jorge Soler hit a homer among his three hits and Garrett Cooper hit a homer for the Marlins. Jonathan Davis also had three hits, while Xavier Edwards and Yuli Gurriel each had two hits for Miami.

The Rockies broke the tie 2-2 in the eighth inning due to McMahon’s double off Dylan Floro. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases and Mike Moustakas hit one to center to score two more.
Michael Toglia scored on Doyle’s only infield to make it 6-2.
Miami rallied in ninth place closer than Pierce Johnson. Soler hit Homer with two runs to make it 6–4, his 15th of the season. Doyle jumped and got the ball in his glove, but it fell out when he hit the wall hard.
He was on the warning path for several minutes before he approached the cart that took him off the field.
Gurriel then doubled and Cooper hit a home run, his fifth, equalizer, with Brent Suter (3-0) replacing Johnson to advance to the half-time final.
The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in a Gurriel triple in the third and added another in Edwards’ RBI single in the fourth.
Colorado got one back at the end of the half on a single from Alan Trejo who scored the points.
Leading Homer Diaz equalized in the sixth off Braxton Garrett. Garrett allowed two runs on six hits in five-plus innings.
