Memes to Help You Mourn the End of the Succession
This weekend, after five years and four seasons, HBO’s Legacy is finally coming to an end, with many viewers of the show (cough, me) going crazy and grabbing our hands. ridiculously roomy bags for comfort. The show will end 90 minutes Final on Sunday, May 29 at 21:00.
accepted the succession is over, but now I’m like wait… Succession in the coffin. Oh my God. we can get it. Please. I can not do it

Since 2018, the award-winning television series has gained a devoted following thanks to its delightfully hateful characters, stellar performances, tense plots and beautiful music – and, of course, a cynical script peppered with top-notch insults.

Jesse Armstrong’s dark comedy-drama focuses on the Roy children as they fight each other for control of their father Logan’s multi-billion dollar media conglomerate, Waystar RoyCo. The characters are loosely based on the Fox Corporation-owning Murdoch family, in addition to several other powerful media mogul families.
But even as we say goodbye to our favorite worst billionaires this weekend, the Waystar Royco empire will live on in Twitter memes, Reddit threads and Tiktok videos that immortalize some of the show’s most memorable moments. Each new episode premiered with a flurry of internet jokes on Sunday nights, and if you’re not in the know, it’s hard not to notice when your feed is full of shell meat and wasabi references.
So, without further ado, here’s my best attempt at putting together some of those typical internet jokes to help us get over this Sunday loss.
Let’s start with the man of the day, Mr. Logan Roy. The character of Logan, played by Brian Cox, is the show’s main point of conflict, often two steps ahead of everyone around him, including his family, much to their chagrin. He is the main antagonist of the show, having created Waystar Royco from scratch, and his character is violent. So it’s no surprise that his children and many of the people around him are just as awful.
That’s probably why it’s so fun to turn their storylines into ridiculously absurd memes, like this one, which stitches Kendall Roy’s endless crisis into a cute Hannah Montana music video:
Or maybe this one, which refers to Roman’s overwhelming grief at the sight of his father’s coffin:
Or maybe this one, which one of the show’s dynamic duos, Carl and Frank, recognizes. As two of Logan’s henchmen, they’ve been in his inner circle since before the advent of cable in the ’90s.
Speaking of secondary characters (too many to list for the length of this article), Jerry Kellman was another fan favorite. In the first season, she started out as Logan’s right-hand man. But as we near the end, she distances herself from him and Roev, especially his son Roman.
Played by J. Smith-Cameron, she hasn’t gotten much screen time this season, and yet every time she’s on screen, her reaction to all the chaos around her instantly steals the show.
But back to Roy. Connor, Kendall, Roman, and Siobhan “Shiv” are Logan’s children, and they have inherited more of their infamous father’s traits than they care to admit. Since the show’s pilot launched in June 2018, every viewer has had one question yet to be answered: who will take over the company?
Throughout the series, the siblings repeatedly attempted to seize power, both for Waystar and their father’s approval.
We all know it won’t be Connor, the eldest son. As a child from a previous marriage, Connor gave up fighting for control of the company early and prefers to stay out of the family chaos as much as possible. As the most aloof and out of touch sibling, Connor is, ironically, Roy’s only child with a healthy (ISH!) marriage and some clarity of his father’s manipulation.
Next on the block we have Kendall. As Logan’s second son, Kendall has his own world of problems that are too confusing to go into this article. In any case, I’m still looking forward to this collaboration with Animorph, as Hunter Harris pointed out on Twitter:
Baby Lara. kidlaroy. kidla swarm. Kendla Roy. Kendall Roy …

However, his younger siblings are not doing much better than him. Just look at Shiv, married to Tom Wambsgans, who is more devoted to his father and his distant cousin Greg.
Here’s a great video compilation dedicated to Tom and Greg’s romance, otherwise known as The Disgusting Brothers. (It should be noted that the main comment on this video is: “This is more culturally significant than the filmography of Quentin Tarantino”, and I completely agree with this).
As Matthew Macfadyen, Tom is a snake, but I don’t know what the show would be like without him. Oh, how he would have flourished in the Regina George clique.
Last but not least, we pay tribute to Greg. His grandfather, Logan’s brother, gave his legacy to Greenpeace. Although he started the show as a disgraced amusement park employee, he could just end the show as one of the most successful. (If you can consider selling your soul to Waystar a success.)
And finally, it would be remiss not to include this mind-blowing ending prediction for all the characters in Twilight… Enjoy!
