The Celtics narrowly lost to the Jazz, 117–118. With 5 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Grant Williams received the ball and tried to score from under the basket, but it was blocked by Walker Kessler.
In such situations, it is common for players to look for a star to pick up a potential game winner. However, Williams chose to take the picture himself rather than hand it over to Jason Tatum.
But the Celtics superstar isn’t upset that he didn’t get the ball on the final play. He says he has no selfishness and doesn’t mind Williams being shot.
“I don’t have selfishness, I’m just trying to win,” Tatum said according to ClutchPoints. “Joe (Mazulla) can make a game for me, but there are other options… I’m not mad that Grant (Williams) took that shot and didn’t give it to me. This is basketball.”
