Campaign table makeover | Worlds News Dock
I updated the campaign table with fresh paint before it turned bright green and lived in my son’s room for ten years. You can see the original painting in this old post. I purchased this table from a thrift store, it was a lucky break for $40. I love the campaign style furniture, the unique brass hardware insert is what I love.
I used the same paint as the original finish on this piece, this is Benjamin Moore’s “Advance” formula, which works best on cabinets and furniture. I sanded the top and fronts of the drawers and then applied two coats of fresh Clay Beige paint.
The brass hardware only needed a simple polish with steel wool and Brasso to bring it back to life.
I redid a wall in my studio (in progress) that I showed earlier this week. I replaced the rattan chairs with a desk, painted the shelves gold, and replaced the art with vintage plants from my Etsy shop.
Every once in a while, you’ll get lucky and buy campaign-style furniture on Craiglist or a thrift store. You can also buy it from local dealers or find vintage items on sites like Chairish or 1st dibs. I found an ad for the exact same table (unpainted) on Chairish for $779, so these items hold their value.
You can also find campaign style reproductions. I bought this campaign style desk from Target for my son’s room to replace an old one that I just repainted because it was too small for his feet.
Campaign furniture is also called Hollywood Regency, if you’re searching, look for brass inserts and brass L- and T-brackets that cut corners. I’ve somehow lost the two bottom brackets, so I’ll need to replace them when I find a source online.
Stay tuned to learn more about the possibilities of this art studio while I bring it to life!
